PostHeaderIcon Living Healthier with Your Dog

We all know the health benefits of our healthy diets and our workout regimens, and pretty much everything else in our life. We are told the best way to do everything to make our lives better, but in truth, most of us dont have to look any further than our back yard, or the end of our bed. There are many health benefits to dog ownership, and it is time we took advantage of them.

Owning a dog can lower your stress levels, and make you happier. The act of petting a dog has been shown to lower your blood pressure, and dog owners are said to live longer, happier lives. You would think that taking responsibility for another life, one that you have to train, feed, and worry about their health would do the opposite. Time and time again studies show that owning a dog will make you happier. Try to remember that when your dog chews up your favorite pair of shoes.

Having a dog that you take for a regular walk will help you stay in shape. If you have to walk them at scheduled intervals you will get your exercise. Walking might not seem like vigorous activity, but walking with your dog will give you a chance to exercise while enjoying the atmosphere of your neighborhood. It will give you a chance to get fresh air which the gym cant provide you. Walking is good for your body, your mind and your soul. Walking with a dog will also help you to meet people, as they will be drawn to your dog!

So, having a dog can make you healthy. It can make you happy. It is also good for your dog. Having increased interaction with you will make them happier, and less likely to act out in ways that are detrimental to you or your belongings. So while you are getting happier, you are improving the well being of your dog also.
